Just one of the great initiatives from the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation we participate in by hosting a sale on our street. It's an annual one day charity garage sale which takes place in May supported by Royal LePage offices across Canada. Members of the community are encouraged to join in and de-clutter for a cause. Donations of gently used items are collected and cash proceeds from the sale are donated to the Foundation to be 100% distributed back into local communities.
Our office is one of a handful of offices that holds the sale not at one location, but collectively at individual locations throughout the community and individually hosted by real estate sales representatives. Collectively, our proceeds are distributed locally to the Red Door Shelter and the Scarborough Women's Centre. We also request a portion of the proceeds to go towards violence prevention programs funded through the Canadian Women's Foundation as well as education initiatives in schools through the Fourth R curriculum project.
In addition, any items not sold at our sale are sorted and distributed to a variety of other local/community charities in need ( women's shelters, homeless in shelters and on the street, food banks ) who accept item donations as well as Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Goodwill and Diabetes Foundation. Our philosophy is to pay it forward so if you have a charity or a charity event that you know could benefit, please let us know.
Over the years we have been blessed with awesome support from clients, neighbours, friends and family and have made many new friends along the way. What a fun day! Without their help we would never be able to pull it all off. Thank-you!
So keep us in mind while you de-clutter throughout the year, especially during your Spring cleaning and keep those gently used items aside for us.
Stay tuned or give us a call for details on item donation location and times or pick up times if you are unable to drop off your items. Thanks in advance for all your support!
