Guildwood Village

Guildwood Village is a specially designed neighbourhood bordering the bluffs of Lake Ontario.  The neighbourhood development plan was to build winding streets to slow down traffic, underground wiring to avoid unsightly wires hanging from utility poles and to construct the development around the beautiful existing trees.

The boundaries of Guildwood Village are along the bluffs of Lake Ontario stretching from Scarborough Golf Club Road/Bethune Blvd in the west to just east of Morningside Drive at Greyabbey Park on the east side…south of the Guildwood GO tracks all the way down to the lake shoreline.

This is a middle class neighbourhood with a mix of many different styles of homes. You will find back-splits, 2 storey  homes, bungalows, and a few condo and townhome options.

COMMUNITY ATTRACTIONS

The original attraction of the area was The Guild Inn which was originally founded in 1932 by Rosa and Spencer Clark as a retreat for artists and craftsmen. Over the years the Inn had many different uses including a naval base and a military hospital during the World War 2 years. Once the war was over the property was then returned to the Clark family who also owned most of the land around it. Due to rising costs and taxes, in the 1950's they sold off over 400 acres to developers. This was the beginning of the Guildwood village neighbourhood as we know it today.  There are plenty of parks with many hiking paths and walkways leading down to the lake.  The Guildwood Village Shopping Centre offers residents a some local shopping options.
